What would be a World without Fears?

If we had to characterize our society of today with one single word we could certainly use this one: "Fear".

Fear of facing ourselves as we are, fear of the way others look at us, fear of the appearance, fear of being different, fear of changing, fear of truth, fear of commitments, fear of responsibility, fear of Duty, fear of risks, fear of consequences, fear of failure, in short: fear of almost everything including fear of ourselves. What are the outcomes of a society saturated with fears? Well, it is not hard to imagine that such a society would be blocked, static, always in doubt if it has to go forward or to return backwards, scared of any move that could bring a change. Fears create an obstacle, they eliminate any possibility of progression and thus they do not allow proper maturity of the individuals.

Rather than dwelling on nowadays situation and what brought this abnormal quantity of fear in the society, let us imagine together what would be a world without fears, a world where every person would be free of any kind of apprehension: people would, in the first place, certainly be in harmony with themselves, undertaking their lives by accepting what they are as it is. Be it their physical, vital, emotional or mental part, they would never be afraid of their personality.

Addressing and communicating with others, people would never take into consideration the impression they give, or their appearance; they would just go on acting following their sense of Duty, fighting for what they believe in and never letting the comments or the way they look at them affect their actions in any way. People would also at the same time be extremely firm inside, holding on to their Ideals, remaining unshakable, regardless what happens around them; and flexible outside, always able to adapt to new situations and to implement the necessary changes in their lives following their own understanding of Wisdom.

Another element that would characterize such fearless persons would be their reaction to commitments and responsibilities: whenever someone asks something from them or whenever they have to commit themselves long term, not a single feeling of hesitation would enter their hearts: they would just stand up straight and fulfill their Destiny. Intimately related to this would be their sense of Duty: it would move them like a lightning, meeting no obstacle or delay.

In facing adversity, those who know no fear, will become Ideal Ladies and Knights: risk would be for them only a matter of strategy and tactic and what is more important they would take every failure as one more lesson and experience, never afraid to begin everything all over again. After falling, they would always and continuously stand up again with the same unbreakable will of the beginning: WE WILL ARRIVE!

Obviously, the Ideal world, free from all fear, has not yet come and removing all the fear we have seems quite impossible, but we lose nothing by trying to remove those little fears that are obstacles to our improvement and to the quality of our help towards our fellows. We should look at those fears that can be removed and that shackle us like the chains of a prisoner, always keeping in mind the model and the possibility of becoming courageous people, ready to face at the same time ourselves, our duties and the world in which we live in.
