Charity and Hypocrisy

It is very difficult to take the path of action to transform the world…the obstacles are many. Often in front of the adversities, two types of answers appear:

a) Rejection of a world that we do not like, withdrawing ourselves from action and trying to find shelter in the golden castle of our selfishness, and ignoring all sufferings that surround us.

b) Sometimes we resource to certain compensatory action trying to occasionally to help, sometimes providing some economical aid, or participating in a charity project, etc. Perhaps visiting some schools to give them food or some nice cakes or "moral messages" (specially if the students of that school are poor, for there is the wrong perception among some of these "occasional helpers" that poor people are less moral...)

Often we forget that if the moral level goes in accordance with the educational level and social status, then the consequence are that the more educated you are the more responsibilities you have towards your fellow humans. Multiply the years of study in the university, and the number of zeros in your bank account by the level of morality, and then you will get the adequate level you are supposed to have.

In any case both actions lack something fundamental: they do not address the core of the problem. If you want to cure poverty and suffering you have to find the reasons behind their existence.

Then, probably you will discover that behind the economical misery lies the moral one, and that behind a bad business is corruption and negligence and that, at the end of the day, behind the human evils are unjust beings.

Now, to cure this disease we have to possess the right medicine: goodness, justice, truth and beauty. And nobody can provide what he does not have.

So, we have to do a serious effort to change ourselves if we want to relief the suffering of our fellows. The true revolution is the revolution of the human being, for the most important duty that we have is to convert ourselves into an efficient tool able to provide justice and goodness illuminating the surrounding darkness.

So, begin by helping yourself, while you help others, because this is the path of the golden heroes walking in darkness with one hand stretched towards God and the other towards humanity.
