Personal Career versus Idealism
One of the typical situations that the youth face is the lack of time to proceed with their dreams and ideals and at the same time to fulfill their professional duties, developing their career, studies, etc.
Generally, the latter is experienced as a sort of confrontation, between this and that, between excluding options.
Anyway, this is a radical attitude that generally obeys to other reasons: lack of organization and clear ideas.
Is it something good for an idealist to develop his/her personal ambitions and personal objectives? Of course, it is not something bad, because that can reinforce his/her personality within the society and, therefore, the possibilities to act within it. He/she will become an example of idealism and practicality at the same time, something very important in a society that only cares about social success.
Nevertheless, we have to be conscious that pushing our ideals to the side in order to obtain social prestige or a higher position in our carrier somehow is to betray ourselves. For in that case, we forget that this world is illusory, and only a scenario where we try to develop the skills of our soul. It is to confuse the means with the targets.
Let's do a simple exercise; let's write our death notice. If we write something like this:
"Mr. So and So reached a very important position in life, he was very successful in his professional life and conquered the highest levels of prestige and richness. Unfortunately he lost the chance given to him by destiny to advance in the path of evolution, because he did not have enough time to develop his ideals, due to his many worldly obligations.". Stop.
Then we would have wasted our time, we absolutely failed because we gave excessive importance to our external titles and diplomas, as if they were worthy of respect in this life and in the other.
In the World of Wisdom the appreciation of titles and merits is quite different, because it is internal and does not consist neither of diplomas nor positions in the external world.
As I mentioned before, that does not mean that we should no get a good position or diploma if it is within our reach, but never, never, detract energies and dedication to our ideals, never ever paying that price for this old and crumbling world, which is distorted and sinking down day by day.
If, on the contrary, our death notice reads like this:
"Nobody in this world recognized his efforts and works, he had a very humble position in life, poverty was his companion for most of it, and often this was misunderstood by his friends and family, but he did everything possible in his hands to constantly work unselfishly for the Ideals, without expecting any reward."
Or even better:
"...became an example for everyone, for he knew how to be very successful in his professional life, becoming a social leader, and at the same time he was a moral example, filled up with ardent idealism at the service of his community..."
Then, in this case, you will open a golden path that will convert you into a true idealist, someone who marks the difference in this obscure world, a faithful disciple of the Messengers of Wisdom. Indeed, they will recognize your work and, above all, you will open a path to the Light emanating from your Superior Self, which will illuminate your personality, becoming a bright diamond in middle of the dark night.
You have two options to choose from: either you climb up the ladder of the old and worn out world, or you create a new and higher position for you in a new and better World, in your hands is the power to chose what is right.
It is not easy, but it is worthy.
